What is diamond Colour?Updated 2 months ago

Diamond colour is an assessment of the natural coloured undertones present in a diamond, which naturally form from imperfections or trace elements in the diamond when it is growing. These are most commonly yellow to brown undertones, but diamonds can appear grey, blue, pink, green and more.

The colourless diamond scale begins with the letter D, which represents the highest grading and a completely colourless stone. The letters on the lower end, down to Z, have more presence of colour. The difference between grades close on the scale can be imperceptible to the eye.

Fancy-coloured diamonds, such as yellow diamonds or champagne diamonds, are usually graded on their own colour scale outside of the D-Z range.
