What does Post-Growth treatment mean on the diamond certificate?Updated 2 months ago
Post-growth treatments are commonly used to reduce, eliminate or change the colour-appearance of a lab-grown diamond.
Brown is the most common colour variety of diamonds, whether natural or lab grown. Brown is currently more prevalent in lab diamonds grown using the Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) process than High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT).
Exposing diamonds to high-pressure and high-temperature after the initial growth period helps rearrange the atoms within the diamond so that the brown coloration is reduced, eliminated or changed.
Post-growth treatments alter the diamond’s structure at the molecular level, so they are considered permanent.
