How should I store my jewellery?Updated 5 months ago

Precious metals and gemstones require careful care and storage.

  • Store your jewellery in a soft, jewellery-specific box. Our LOUISE JEAN ring or fine jewellery boxes are designed to be repurposed for storage and are perfect for long-term use. Soft fabrics will ensure there is no risk of scratching or damage, especially to the metal of your rings.
  • Keep each piece relatively separate, paying careful attention to ensure no diamonds and gemstones touch each other (or other metal pieces). Diamonds are one of the hardest substances on earth, and they can scratch other pieces if they come into contact.
  • Hang necklaces, or lay them flat. This will help to prevent knotting, tangling or kinking of chains.
  • Store tennis-style necklaces and bracelets in their original boxes, laying them flat with the original shape protected. This will help to avoid bending or kinking, and protect the dainty claws.
  • Be mindful of the temperature, humidity and cleanliness of the space where you store your jewellery. Precious metals can oxidise and discolour prematurely when exposed to moisture in the air, or extreme temperatures.
